Hey everyone! K here! Thanks for coming to my reviews. Enjoy! Oh, and thanks for coming… Oh, I already said that, whatever.
Hope you enjoy my reviews and this site. And don’t forget to spread the word of this site.
THE KINGDOM KEEPERS (Disney After Dark)- By Ridley Pearson- **** 1/2 (4 1/2 stars): Personally, I like Universal Studios better than Disney, but thats not why I gave it a 4 star rating. I was born and raised in Florida and I always go to Orlando with my family. I loved the book its just that towards the ending it was very confusing. I could understand it, but it didn’t make sense at all. All in all it was a great book, and I would recommend it.
THE KINGDOM KEEPERS (DISNEY AT DAWN)- **** (4 stars): I liked the first a little better than this one, but it was pretty good. I liked the detail and how there was a lot of “chatting” on DSs and on IM. I liked how the author added that in. I didn’t like some parts, though. All in all, it was a good book and VERY intresting. I reccomand this book. Oh, one more thing, there are about 50 chapters, but don’t worry, there all REALLY short.
SURVIVING ANTARCTICA (Reality TV 2083)- By Andrea White- ***** (5 stars): Wow, amazing, great detail! I LOVED this book!! This book is dated in 2083 where America has defiantly changed. Everything circles around TV; you watch TV, do TV school, etc. Stephen Michael has gotten a job as an editor in the hit TV show Antarctica Survivor. Five kids were picked to be in this show. What did they have to do? Live in the bitter snow of Antarctica. Each kid has there own personality and special talent. Polly (my favorite) has a great memory, Andrew doesn’t really know what is talent is (but he will soon find out), Billy (pretends) to have a talent of surviving the ice, Grace gets along well with the animals, and Robert (supposedly) is a great leader. Will these kids survive? Find out in SURVIVING ANTARCTICA!! Oh, and I definitely recommend it.
WHEN SANTA FELL TO EARTH- By Cornelia Funke- *** (3 Stars): The newest book by Cornelia Funke, WHEN SANTA FELL TO EARTH, was great with amazing detail. I loved the illustrations and I loved almost everything about it, except two things. Santa fell to Earth in a wagon, I liked that, but later on in the story it says that in the wagon there is a world called “Yule Land.” I didn’t like the part where there is a huge ice world in a tiny little wagon (even if it is magical). I also didn’t like how Charlotte (an assistant of Ben one of the main characters who is a child) was meant to look like a guy with short hair. I recommend this book to anyone who loves Christmas (which is just about everyone.)
ONCE UPON A MARIGOLD- By Jean Ferris- ***** (5 stars): A comedy, love story, and fantasy; a perfect combination for a book. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a great funny book. I loved the books detail and how interesting it was from the first sentence to the last paragraph. Christian, a young orphan, was adopted by a troll named Ed who works against the Tooth Fairy. Christian lives in a beautiful cave with crystals hanging from the ceiling. He lives next to the castle where a Princess named Marigold lives. Christian always spies on her through his telescope and obviously loves her. One day he looks through his telescope and sees Marigold’s mom, Queen Olimpia, who was talking to her ferret saying that some how she needs to get rid of Marigold. Can Christian help Marigold before its to late? Start reading!!
IDA B- By Katherine Hannigan- **** (4 Stars): A good book that is sad and different. Ida B just found out that she is no longer being home schooled, but needs to go to a Public School. To make matters even worse her mom has cancer. Ida B goes to school looking for any people that will be nice enough to be her friend. She finds no one. When she goes home she goes to her apple orchard to talk to the apple trees. I didn’t like how Ida B just talks to herself and the trees. It was kinda strange. It was a pretty good book and I would recommend it to nature lovers, but if you can relate to having a mom with cancer or if you know someone who has cancer you probably won’t think its good.
PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLIMPIANS SERIES- By Rick Riordon ***** (5 stars): This series is one of my favorite series I’ve read. There is so much detail and suspense that you can’t drop your book down. This series is great for ages 10-15 and I would recommend it to anyone. If you like action and suspense you got to read this great series!! Here’s a summary of the LIGHTNING THIEF book down below this paragraph.
LIGHTNING THIEF- Introducing Percy Jackson, who is about to get kicked out of his boarding school…again. This 12 year old boy just discovers that he is a son of one of the Greek gods (Zeus, Posideon, Hades, etc.) When he reaches a camp called Camp Half Blood (where kids are taken if they are sons or daughters of Greek gods) while being chased by monsters he meets Annabeth (my favorite) who is the daughter of Athena (god of wisdom) andGrover(who is already his friend at school) who is actually a satyr (half human, half goat). percyfinds out that he is the son of Poseidon andthatZeusthinks he is responsible for stealing his Master Thunderbolt. Percy has to find it and findout who stole it from Zeus. With Annabeth and Grover at Percy’s side, what could go wrong?
LISTENING FOR LIONS-By Gloria Whelan-**** (4 stars): Great book which is sad, happy, and interesting. Winner of the National Book Award, LISTENING FOR LIONS was a thrilling book. I liked everything about it, except one thing. A lot of people die in this book by influenza. Its kinda strange how like all of a sudden in the 2nd/3rd chapter how influenza just comes like WHOOSH!! I know that it happened in real life, but maybe you don’t understand what I’m saying. Why doesn’t it mention this disease in the beginning? Strange. It was a really good book though and I would recommend it to people especially if they like Africa.
THE EXTRAORDINARY ADVENTURES OF ALFRED KROPP-By Rick Yancey-***** (5 stars): This adventurous book has everything from motorcycles to helicopters to fancy cars. I loved this book because it was suspenseful andall the chapters ended with something that made you want to read more. Here’s a little bit about this book: Alfred Kropp is a very “big” 15 year old boy (BIG not fat). When he was born his father left his mother and him andwhen he was growing up his mother died of cancer. Alfred then went to live with his Uncle andwhensomeonecalls to Alfred’s uncle about stealing something that was his from another person for a million dollars, his Uncle quickly excepts. Alfred knows something is up, but who knows? Read this great adventure if you want a action-packed book to read! I also highly recommend it.
OUT OF PATIENCE-By Brian Meehl- *** (3 stars): Great book all in all, but if it was really great I would of given it five stars. Why did I give three stars? One thing is that at the very end when you don’t know whats going to happen it goes into another chapter that doesn’t have anything to do with the chapter before. It was kinda weird because it talked about toilets, but I learned a lot about toilets (XP) and other facts about Kansas in this book. I recommend this book to people who like strange stories with strange twists and turns.
SHAKESPHERE’S SECRET-By Elise Broach- **** (4 stars): I want to start off saying this book was very good and interesting. It has facts about people like Shakespeare, Edward De Vere, Anne Boleyn, and Queen Elizabeth I. The book was really good, but not a lot of details. This book has details, but a little less than I hoped for. I recommend this book to anyone especially for people who are interested in the true Shakespeare and the Renaissance.
EMBER 1: THE CITY OF EMBER-By Jeanne DuPrau-**** 1/2 (4 1/2 stars): I am going to start off saying this: this book rocked! I have only read the first and second book to this trilogy (ATTENTION: IT USED TO BE A TRILOGY NOW IT CONSISTS OF MORE THAN 3 BOOKS), Ember, andI can’t wait to read the second. There was nothing I didn’t like about this book except some little details; it basically had the perfect amount of details, the perfect amount of characters, andthe perfect amount of everything else. There is nothing else to say about this book besides this; I recommend this Sci-Fi book to anyone and everyone.
EMBER 2: THE PEOPLE OF SPARKS-**** (4 stars): Not as good as the first. It was good, but not as good…let me make this clear…not as NEAR as good as the first. This book was a little confusing in the beginning, but it gradually got a little better. If you want to read this because you read the first, go ahead, I recommend it. Come on, I would tell you people if it was a VERY terrible book.
THE THREE INVESTIGATORS- By many different authors- ***** (5 stars): Even though these Three Investigator books are really old, there great. You can’t buy them at a book store, but you can get them off Ebay anddifferent Internet stores like that. They are defiantly worth the wate. The Three Investigators are kinda like the Hardy Boys (except the Three Investigators are a couple years older andare better). The trio solve all kinds of mysteries from skulls to Mummy’s to even haunted houses. Jupiter is the leader and brains of the group. Even though he’s a little chubby, don’t misjudge him. Pete is the athlete and is a little of a scaredy cat. Bob does the research andis very smart. Packed with humor and adventure, I would defintley reccomand The Three Investigators!
GURDIANS OF GA’HOOLE-By Kathryn Lasky-***** (5 stars): The Gurdians of Ga’Hoole series is one of my favorite series I have ever read. This series is a combination of fiction and non-fiction even though its a fiction novel. This great series is about owls. The plot, names, setting, etc. is all fiction, while the types of owls (all besides the blue owls) and facts about owls are real. The first book of this series is “The Capture” andthe last which is coming out soon is “The War of the Ember.” If you read this book you will feel like your watching a movie on this book. You also cry withthe characters, laugh with the characters, anddo all the emotions with the characters, I promise you will feel like there your best friends. This is a great book andI recommend it for anyone who likes owls and a good, heartwarming series.
A LAND REMEMBERED 1-Patrick D. Smith-**** (4 stars): This good, old-fashioned book is great. This book was about Florida in the old days; trains, cattle, and the Civil War. I liked almost everything in this book instead of some gross and sad things that happened, but then again, that’s what life back in the late 1800s early 1900s was like. I recommend this book to anyone wandering what Florida was like long ago.
A LAND REMEMBERED 2-Patrick D. Smith-*** (3 stars): Great book all in all, but a little bit of a disappointment. I loved this book, but I felt that it was a little confusing with all the events going on including deaths, farming, and many others. It was kinda like this: picture youreading this book and all of a sudden in the next chapter so andso is married without any previous chapter mentioning the marriage or anything like that. I really did like this book, but it was obviously not as good as the first. I recommendit just like I recommend the first.
THE TALE OF DESPEREAUX-Kate DiCamillo-***** (5 stars): The famous author of Winn Dixie has done it again. Another great book, and soon to be a movie. This exciting tale of a little mouse has everything from adventure, love (even I am not a big fan of that stuff), suspense, action, and horror. Perfect book right? Exactly. A classic, amazing, and extraordinary are some of the few words to describe this book. Obviously, I recommend this book to anyone, especially to adventure lovers.
THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH-Norton Juster-**** 1/2 (4 1/2 stars or 4 and a half stars): One of the strangest books I have ever read, The Phantom Tollbooth is about a boy who travels through a tollbooth and soon finds out that there is a world inside of it. Milo, the boy, does not even know where or when he got this tollbooth. Its a mystery. I would of given this book five stars, but some parts were very odd and sometimes confusing (like at the middle it was reallystrange). All in all I loved this book and I would reccomand reading it to anyone.
DIARY OF A WIMPY KID-By Jeff Kinney-***** (5 stars): I don’t care if you have said that you have read the funniest book in the world because if you have NEVER read this book than you have never read the funniest book EVER. I am telling you, when you look in the book store and look at the cover I know you will think, “this book is for little kids” but really it isn’t. If you see it just read the first couple of pages and I promise you, you will like it a lot. This is a book for all ages, believe me. My mom read it and she loved it. My dad hasn’t read it though (but he would like it). Also my thirty year old cousin loved it. Obviously, adults can read it too. I reccomand it.
THE BRONZE BOW-Elizabeth George Sphere-**** (4 stars): Great, just great. Intresting and exiciting. The thought that comes in your head when you read these reviews is “What will happen next? Will so and so die? Will so and so ever get healed from there sickness?” Those are the questions you will be asking in every chapter. Anyways, this book was a little boring at first, dull, blah, etc., etc., but if you really read on I promise you it will be a lot better. It has a pretty good meaning and I don’t know that the author meant for the meaning to be in there, but it kinda seemed like it…hmm, I don’t know, there was just something that… Oh, whatever, I reccomand it.
A LIGHT IN THE FOREST-By Conrad Richter-*** (3 stars): A classical tale of the hardest conflict between father and son. When True Son, the white oy raised by Indians, has to return to his home things go from bad to worse. Things that were happy went sad and good friends become enemies. The only thing that I did not like about this book is that it did not describe the characters as well as I hoped. Also the story is a little confusing at some parts, but most of it is fine. I do reccomand this book, especially if you like to read the history of Indians and want to know what it was like back in the 1700s.
THE WISH LIST-By Eoin Colfer-**** (4 stars): A great read. Intresting, lots of humor, and detail. Then why didn’t it get 5 stars? Because some parts were a little confusing and hard to catch up on. Not to brag, but I catch on to books fast, but I didn’t for this one. This is what it is about: Meg Finn, after robbing from in old man, has her soul up for grabs and she is either going to hell or heaven. Because of her final good deed, she is to good for hell and because of her bad deeds, she is to bad for heaven. What will happen? Read this book. Don’t worry, it is not…whats the word…inappropriate. If you read it, it isn’t all BAD as you would think. I reccomand for ages 10 and up.
THE TWILIGHT SAGA REVIEWS:
TWILIGHT-By Stephenie Myer-***** (5 stars): One of the best books I have read. Tons of detail, creativity, etc. A must read! When I bought it I thought: Blech! A romance book! But when I read it I couldn’t stop! I kept reading and reading and it was GREAT! I loved how there was so much detail. Ushually, I think I am one of the characters, that helps me imagine the story better. This time, I was watching it. The details were amazing. It was like she was actually there. I, obviously, reccomend it!
NEW MOON-**** (4 stars): I didn’t like this book as much as the first, but it was still pretty good. Everyone I know read this book and cried because Ed…whoa, whoa, whoa! Sorry about that, I almost spoiled it! Anyways, I am not one of those “crying at sad parts” kinda person, so yeah, I didn’t cry at the sad part. Still, read this book. I reccomand it, but you probably won’t be as crazy about this book than the one and only Twilight.
Eclipse-***** (5 stars): All in all a great read. Not exactly as good as the first anda little better than the second. A definite great read. The questions raced through my mind everytime I tearnedto the next page is Bella gonna stay in love with Edward or is she gonna choose Jacob? Is Bella gonna turn into a -? Whoops, can’t say that either… Oh, well I think you get the overall point. I am dying to read the 4th and final book of the Twilight saga, Breaking Dawn.
MILKWEED- by Jerry Spinelli-**** 1/2 (4 and 1/2) : There was great detail in this book. It was like you were there. Some of the things, though, were a little bit confusing. This is a book about a Gypsie boy who pretends to be a Jew during the Holocaust. He is a little boyso he does not understand anything and wants to be a Nazi. As time goes by in the ghetto he realizes he doesn’t want to be a Nazi and it is safest to be a no buddy.
MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS- by Agatha Christie- **** (4 stars): Just what the title says, the book is about a story; a murder on the Orient Express. This book was a little confusing (why I rated it 4 stars), but it was very interesting, which is always a plus is my reviews. This book makes you wonder and think your hardest. I bet that if you read this book that you would not be able to guess who murdered who.
MARLY & ME- by John Grogan- ***** (5 stars): You will laugh, you will cry, but most of all you will laugh. This true story is about one CRAZY dog who ends up, well, getting into some MAJOR trouble. John and Jenny Groganjust got married so they decide to get a dog. When they find out that one dog is a smaller price then the other golden retrievers, they decide to take him, but they had no idea that they would soon be calling him the world’s worst dog. Hilarious and sad, you will love this book!
Princess Academy- by Shannon Hale- **** 1/2 (4 1/2 stars): This was a pretty good book, though a little confusing. This book is about a small girl named after the Miri flower, who is sent off with all the other girls to be trained to be well, a princess. Let me just say, this is one of those books that you would think something was going to happen, but really it doesn’t. I recommend this book for anyone who likes a good read.
Tangerine- by Edward Bloor- *** 1/2 (3 1/2 stars): I really liked this book since it was about soccer, but what I didn’t like was the beginning. I mean, it was okay, but the book kind of took off on a slow start until the main character, Paul Fisher, goes to his first school in Tangerine, FL, where his family just moved. I thought this book was very good and I would recommend it.
